Once again, I am a bit annoyed with celebrities carrying extra large bags on the red carpet. Red carpet looks should be reserved for petite clutches and minaudieres. But in my eyes, Lady O can really do whatever she wants, and whatever bag she's carrying, on or off the red carpet is sure to redefine red carpet style. Oprah's Fendi Doctor style tote looks extra chic alongside her buckled grey dress, gunmetal cuff and peep-toe Christian Louboutins. The structured bag has two unstructured wing-like flaps on either end, with two short handles and hidden pockets at each end with press stud fastenings at the top. The bag is simple but has that special touch that you either love or hate about Fendi. I'm just happy I can afford Oprah's style. Well, her bag at least.

This week's Splurge of the Week is the vintage-looking F3 Secret Code Bag by Fendi. This Secret Code bag exudes an old world charm, reminding me of the bags of the pre-Second World War era. Making its first appearance in Fendi's Spring/Summer collection this year, this Secret Code is back this season, in different textures and materials. Looks like someone is reaping the rewards from the box office smash that is “High School Musical 3.” And I’m glad to see that Ashley Tisdale has put her HSM money to good use with this lovely Fendi Spy bag. The logo-crazed handbag lends her - let’s face it - otherwise underwhelming casual ensemble some luxe street cred, though I’m not sure a Spy deserves to be paired with a schlubby hoodie. Whatevs - she’s got the handbag right, the rest will surely follow.

You don’t mess with classics, but in the case of this Fendi Velvet Spy Bag, it’s a surprisingly successful - if fairly unconventional - update. The rich wine velvet instantly gives it a festive feeling, especially coupled with the satin lining and thick, shimmery handles. A smattering of rhinestones and beads glint elegantly on the sides. Normally bags like this don’t really appeal to me, but I’m totally swayed by this one. It’s not exactly a candidate for year-round wear, but it has loads of potential during the holiday season.
