It’s nice to see that the old-time celeb staple, the illustrious Hermes Birken Bag, is still in heavy use by someone other than Victoria Beckham. Here we have the adorable (and oh-so-wholesome compared to her other former Disney co-stars) Hilary Duff out shopping with her trusty Birken. You know, Hilary was recently engaged to hockey star Mike Comrie. I wonder if we can expect honeymoon travel photos of the soon-to-be Mrs. Comrie toting her Hermes purse. After all, a bag that big has to make great travel gear, right?

Mulberry's iconic Bayswater bag is kind of the poor woman's Birkin. It's classic and conservative, and about a quarter of the price of an Hermes bag. This leopard print version is classy, chic, and a little bit glamorous.
The leopard-printed calf hair is the most interesting thing about this bag, as far as I'm concerned. The [...]

These days it's easy to forget Courtney Love was once a lipstick smeared, messy haired, train wreck of a rock star. Now she's all polished and poised, and it seems we have the Hermes Birkin bag to thank for the transformation.
The former Mrs Kurt Cobain told Women's Wear Daily that her life changed when she [...]

Hermes might charge an arm and a leg for its iconic handbags and stylish scarves, but that hasn’t scared shoppers off in the last few months. The French fashion house has seen a sales increase of 23% in the first six months of the year.
While most of are still smarting from the affects of the [...]

The Peekaboo is Fendi's answer to the Hermes Birkin Bag. It's classic, understated, and very expensive. With this new canvas version, Fendi is trying to make luxury available to a wider audience. The problem is that they end up delivering a great bag at a still less-than-reasonable price tag, as usual.
While I feel indignant about [...]

![]() Toss your roomy totes, slim clutches and bohemian bags with hardware and fringe to the back of the closet. The It bags for fall are small and basic; ladylike, almost to the point of prim; and minimalist. Square-shaped or rectangular, the handbags often have long shoulder straps and feature a very simple fold-over envelope style flap with a simple clasp. Color schemes are fairly basic, too, with most in solid brown and tan leather and black. These bags resemble the "pocket books" you once plucked from your mother's or grandmother's closet to play dress-up. They are ultra understated and have a conservative '80s power suit feel. With long shoulder straps the bags rest at the hip. Hermès has resurrected the Constance, a model with an H clasp that can be worn over the shoulder or messenger style. Phoebe Philo introduced Celine's Classic Box, a small bag with compartments, closed by a square gold clasp. The fashion flock has been seen with the bag in black, brown and red leather. Ralph Lauren has one in shiny brown croc with a gleaming round gold clasp. Fendi has also brought back a classic: the Logo Square bag emblazoned with Fs. For those of us that love designer handbags, we know the Holy Grail of bags is the Hermes Birkin, and for many reasons. It’s super exclusive, and only available to the 1% to 2% of the population that can actually afford one. It’s hand crafted and literally a piece of art that holds its’ value or even appreciates. And of course, there is the ‘waiting list’, that even the Hollywood heavy weights must endure. While there is nothing we can do to make the bags more affordable, we can show you a way to skip the wait list. Portero is a web site that resells designer accessories, but they are famous for their fabulous Hermes Birkin selection. The bags vary in condition from fair to pristine, which is like-new condition. The bags come with everything a brand new Birkin comes with, even the insurance and manufacturers box and paper work. They have a huge selection of Birkins in many colors and materials from leather to crocodile. The above Hermes Birkin is the Rolls Royce of Birkins, the uber exclusive Crocodile with palladium hardware. It’s chocolate brown, with a hint of deep burgundy, Cocoan Porosus Crocodile (considered the finest crocodile skin in the world with the smallest scales) and silver tones palladium hardware, lock and key, and protective feet. It’s in pristine, or like-new, condition. This beauty can be yours for a mere $59,000. Available here
