Marc by Marc Jacobs Locket Pocket Large Tote

If I were 16 again, I’d love this Marc by Marc Jacobs Locket Pocket Large Tote, what with its Lisa Frank-esque cloud print and colorful striated background. Unfortunately, I’m not, which is why I’ll be sitting this one out. Sure, the price is right, but the boxy canvas and soft grained leather isn’t really grown-up enough for a big girl like me. It’s playful and fun, and might work with a colorful tank and jeans, but I need a tote with a little more mileage…and sophistication. Available for $168 at Eluxury.com.

“Budget-friendly” is a relative term in the world of high-end handbags, but one thing you can count on is luxurious styles at more reasonable prices from collections like Marc by Marc Jacobs. Given that frugality is of prime importance right now, every little bit saved counts. If your shopping habit is still active but just ever so slightly relaxed, consider MJ’s Strippy Zippy Hobo Bag. It’s the very definition of casual, bearing striking beige leather, three exterior zippered pockets and plenty of interior space, too. Ideal for those on-the-go and for carrying just about anywhere, this purse is available for $458 at Madison Los Angeles.

Erin’s Style Picks: Living in the ’80s

Shoulder bags, Cosby sweaters, neon galore…we’ve officially returned to the 1980s. And though I’ll seriously move to an underground bomb shelter if ye olde stirrup pants and parachute pants of yore make a comeback, these retro looks aren’t all bad. Check out these fab picks.

Marc Jacobs O.O.C. Glitter Studs Mini: Tell me this doesn’t have “Jem!” written all over it. I love the feisty fuchsia hue, and the metallic is pure party. Available for $995 at Eluxury.com.

Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse Shawl: Is there anything more ’80s than a Sprouse reference? Of course, a Sprouse-inspired handbag is divine, but I’ve also taken a cotton (er, make that cashmere) to this leopard-print shawl. Available for $725 at Eluxury.com.

Jimmy Choo Zulu Soft Clutch: Net-a-Porter has singled this studded clutch as a sign of the New ’80s, and I couldn’t agree more. Very “White Wedding.” Available for $625 at Net-a-Porter.com.

Alexander Wang Denim Leather Hobo Bag: A little Dexy’s Midnight Runners, a little Erin Wasson, a lot downtown girl cool. The “it” designer has created a funky little purse for aspiring blue jean baby queens, all with cleverly distressed leather. Available for $825 at Shopbop.com.

Rebecca Minkoff Neon Rendezvous Clutch: This Day-Glo clutch was made for hitting the clubs…or a Wham! concert. Available for $275 at Shopbop.com.

Marc Jacobs F/W '09

NY Fashion Week is not quite over without Marc Jacob's collection. I'm sure you've been waiting for their Fall '09 collection for a while now.

Presenting to you the new Marc Jacobs Fall '09 collection.. A collection with many spillovers from the previous seasons. One of many is the spillover from the Sprouse for LV Spring/Summer '08 Day Glo collection. Neon-hued, together with its floral pattern, the new collection is said to reflect the good old days in New York where he used to spend his night outs in clubs.

The new Fall collection is made up of mostly shoulder bags and totes with the use of a mix and match of colors and designs to re-create what has been seen in the previous MJ collections. Chain-link shoulder straps are still a hit with the designers. So is the gold hardware spotted on plaques and most zippers.

Take a look..

You'll find the collection contains a lot of materials - from leather to patent to satin. I think the toned down satin foldovers look great and looks exceptionally pretty with a dress. Definitely my pick for the season.

Fresh Mint

The color mint is catching my eye ever since Sarah Jessica Parker declared her Oscar dress "barely mint". The color mint is like a softer touch of green or turquoise, which looks oh so perfect for Spring. I'm loving this JCrew Solid Silk Garland Cami ($88) that will look great paired with skirts or jeans.

Here are more mint colored fashions:
